Neil Armstrong dies
Neil Armstrong is an astronaut from the United States. He was the first astronaut down on the Moon. Neil Armstrong died at the age of 82 after suffering complications from heart surgery.
Neil Armstrong is survived by his wife, two sons, two stepchildren, 10 grandchildren and a brother and a female.
History of Neil Armstrong
Armstrong was born on August 5 1930 in Wapakoneta, Ohio. He was the first son of the couple Stephen and Viola Armstrong.
Born in Ohio was first flown at the age of six and started making model airplanes in adolescence.
During high school, he excelled in the sciences and mathematics and received a scholarship from the U.S. Navy to study at Purdue University in Indiana in 1947.
He then went on to serve as a fighter pilot in the Korean War for two years and then returned to continue their education at Purdue and graduated in 1955 with a degree in aeronautical engineering.
In 1958 he joined the National Advisory Committee on Aeronautics (NACA), which later turned into NASA. In September of 1962, Armstrong was selected to be an astronaut for NASA.
